WORLD YOUTH UNDER-16 CHESS OLYMPIAD
28 August - 06 September 2012 Istanbul, Türkiye (Turkey)
1. TOURNAMENT:
The Turkish Chess Federation (TCF) will organise the above-mentioned event in Istanbul, Turkey from 28 August (Arrival) to 06 September (Departure) 2012. The Olympiad will be conducted under the auspices of Fédération Internationale Des Échecs (FIDE). World Youth Under 16 Chess Olympiad shall be realized in the same time and same place with 40th Chess Olympiad (Yesilköy, Istanbul-IFM hall 11).
2. PARTICIPATION:
The Turkish Chess Federation has the pleasure of inviting your Chess Federation to participate in the World Youth Under-16 Olympiad under the terms are stated below.
- All chess players who shall not have reached the age of 16 on January 1st of the year in which the Competition is held are eligible to participate(birth date 1996 and after).
- Each FIDE member federation shall have the right to send one team.
- FIDE member federations have the right to send additional teams to U16 Olympiad; however, Organizers can not guarantee enough lodging reservations for the additional teams because of accommodation intensity during the 40th Chess Olympiad in Istanbul. Please keep contact with Tournament Director about available accommodation conditions.
- Each team shall comprise 4 players and 1 reserve and 1 captain (or Manager, Trainer).
- FIDE entry fee is 100€ for each team and should be paid before the first round.
- The participating Federations should make their applications via the “registration form” to Tournament Director until 15 August 2012. (please check article 10)
- The applications sent after the application deadline shall be charged by 100€ compensation. However, Organisers have a right to refuse late entries.
3. ACCOMMODATION:
TCF will provide free board and lodging for a team of 4 players and 1 reserve and 1 captain (or Manager, Trainer) free for nine days, for the applications came till 15 August 2012. The participating Federation shall be charged for the additional persons(trainer, parents..), € 45 per day inclusive of 3 meals. There is no any chance to provide single and double rooms. Please take under consideration that all participants must stay in official student dorm. All participants will stay in student dorm and anyone who participates in the tournament will not be allowed for security reasons to stay somewhere else. Invited players will stay in triple, quadruple, quinted, senary and septet rooms. Registrations will be valid by sending 100 € organization fee in advance. Following accounts must be used and money should be transferred to Turkish Chess Federation till deadline. Registrations will not be valid without money transfer!

4. TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
The tournament shall be run on a 10 Round Swiss. Each match between teams will be conducted over 4 boards. The pairings, scoring and tiebreak regulations are in accordance with the Pairing Rules for the Chess Olympiad.
5. TIME CONTROL:
The time control is 90 minutes with 30 seconds increments per move starting from first move.
6. PRIZES:
- The members of the top three teams shall be awarded by medals(Gold, Silver & Bronze).
- The members of the top five teams shall receive special gifts.
- All players shall have a Certificate Of Participation.
iv. Individual Board Prizes: Players assigned to the same board number in their respective team lists shall be in competition with each other for an individual board prize.

8. TRANSFERS:
There are two international airport in Istanbul; the “Atatürk Airport” (IST) in European side and the “Sabiha Gökçen Airport” (SAW) in Asian side. International flights are mostly Atatürk Airport connected. Please check flights on :
If you ask to transfer from airports to Florya student dorm please make an official request to the Accommodation Director.

09. VISAS:
Countries that require visas for Turkey are requested to apply for visas at their respective Turkish Republic Embassy. TCF will send invitation to all participants eligible for Tournament.
